I believe therapy and personal growth work improve the quality of our lives. Therapy has helped me to learn more about myself and get out of my own way and lead a fuller life. I am a firm believer that it can help anyone who has questions, who is unhappy, who wants to learn more about themselves, who wants to change old patterns, and who wants to live life more fully.
I also believe that you are not broken and that I am not here to fix you (nor could I even if I wanted to! No magic wand here). I see therapy as a partnership in which you are the expert on your life, and I am a mental health professional with relevant training and experience to guide you towards asking difficult questions, looking at your life and your patterns more closely, and helping you develop new coping strategies. I also believe that you get out of therapy what you put into it. The work is mostly done by you between sessions. Looking inward involves hard work, difficult conversations, introspection, and some discomfort with hard truths. I provide a supportive environment, a judgement free space, a client centered approach, and I will follow your lead and pace.
I am client-centered, attachment-focused, relationship-oriented, and I believe that deeper work is what really helps us to make lasting change, so I tend to have a more psychodynamic and family systems approach to therapy. I borrow from various theories and approaches, as well as my own lived experience.
